36 Chapter 5 Conclusion

In this chapter we looked at:

  • Piaget’s sensorimotor stage.
  • The impact of the social environment on children’s learning.
  • The progression and theories of language development.
  • Classical and operant conditioning and systems of reinforcement.
  • The types of memory and how they work together.

In the following chapter, we will finish looking at the first two years of life by examining social and emotional development, including temperament and attachment.[1]
